Cinematic Color Grading Secrets: Elevating Brand Films to Hollywood Quality
Our colorists share the DaVinci Resolve techniques and LUT workflows that give Gamenic's video productions their signature cinematic look.
Color grading is where good footage becomes great cinema. At Gamenic, our colorists treat every brand film with the same attention to color science that you’d find in a Hollywood post-production house. The result is a signature visual quality that sets our clients’ content apart in crowded digital spaces.
Our primary tool is DaVinci Resolve Studio, which gives us the precision of node-based color pipelines combined with HDR grading capabilities. Every project begins with a technical color assessment analyzing the source footage for dynamic range, color space, and any issues that need correction before creative grading begins.
We’ve developed a library of custom LUTs (Look-Up Tables) that serve as starting points for different visual styles: warm cinematic, cool corporate, desaturated editorial, vibrant lifestyle. These aren’t applied blindly — they’re carefully adapted to each project’s specific footage and creative direction.
One technique that defines our approach is what we call ‘selective atmosphere grading.’ Instead of applying a uniform look across the entire frame, we create precise power windows around key elements faces, products, architectural details and grade them independently. This creates a subtle hierarchy of visual attention that guides the viewer’s eye.
For clients shooting in LOG or RAW formats, we provide on-set monitoring LUTs that give directors and DoPs an accurate preview of the final graded look. This feedback loop between set and post significantly reduces the back-and-forth that traditionally plagues color grading workflows.
