Drone Cinematography: How We Capture Breathtaking Aerial Sequences

From FPV racing drones to cinema-grade DJI rigs, explore Gamenic's aerial filming toolkit and the post-production pipeline behind our stunning flyovers.

Aerial cinematography adds a dimension of scale and drama that no other camera technique can match. At Gamenic, we’ve invested in a comprehensive drone fleet and developed specialized workflows that turn raw aerial footage into polished cinematic sequences.

Our fleet ranges from compact DJI Mini 4 Pro units for scouting and quick social media content, to the DJI Inspire 3 with its full-frame Zenmuse X9 camera for cinema-grade aerial work. For dynamic, high-energy sequences, we deploy custom-built FPV drones capable of flying through tight spaces at high speed.

Planning is everything in aerial cinematography. Before every shoot, we create detailed flight plans using Google Earth Studio to previsualize camera paths and identify the optimal times of day for lighting. We also conduct thorough site surveys to assess obstacles, no-fly zones, and local regulations safety is non-negotiable.

Post-production for aerial footage follows a specialized pipeline. We stabilize footage using a combination of DaVinci Resolve’s built-in stabilizer and specialized tools for removing the micro-vibrations that even gimbal-stabilized drones can produce. Speed ramping is used extensively to create the dramatic tempo shifts that define cinematic aerial sequences.

Our most challenging aerial project to date was a continuous 4-minute FPV sequence through a resort property in Pokhara weaving through buildings, over pools, and along mountain ridgelines in a single unbroken take. It required 23 practice runs and perfect coordination with ground talent, but the result was a piece of content that generated over 2 million views.
